More Than Pie In The Sky

Heaven is much more than "pie in the sky,"
A distant hope, "In the sweet by and by."

It's God's promise upon which to stand,
That looks far beyond this earthly strand.

It's a home, from which we will not leave,
The presence of God, to which we cleave.

Seeing Him who died on Cal'vry's tree
Shedding His blood, just to set me free,

With all the faithful from the ages,
Who chose God's word over the sages.

Seeking His grace, courting His favor,
Mercy received, joy now to savor.

They'll be there, enjoying that rest
Saying indeed, "I've chosen the best."

Sorrow, sickness and death will be done
Satan defeated, victory won.

All this awaits me beyond death's door,
What dear friend, do you have in store?

Mock me not for my faith, hope and love
Come, go with me, to my home above.
