He prefaced His remarks about
the New Birth of the "Water
and the Spirit" with those arresting words, "Verily,
Verily" (Jn.3:3-5)

In connection to what Jesus
taught Nichodemus on that occasion, said He, "We speak what we know
and testify to what We have seen..." That
was preceeded by a "Verily, Verily." (Jn. 3:11). Indeed Jesus knows all
things (2:24-25).

Likewise when He talked about conditions for eternal
life: "hear" and "believe" (both implying the
other conditions - repentance, confession and full compliance with
His will (see Mk.16:16;Heb. 5:8-9), He uses those arresting words, "Verily,
Verily" (Jn.5:24-25; 6:47).

The sharp rebuke from the lips of the Lord
to the multitude for following Him merely "for the loaves and were
filled" had
a "Verily,
Verily" before it (Jn.6:27-27)

To emphasize what His Father
did in giving the "bread from heaven" Jesus headed that
up with a "Verily, Verily" (Jn.6:32-33).

When The Saviour discussed the need for us to
spiritually imbibe, assimulate and digest Him and His words He impressed
the thought with "Verily, Verily" (Jn. 6:53,63)

The Lord emphasized the fact that "whosoever commits sin
is a slave of sin" by the use of a "Verily, Verily" (Jn.8:34)
- And the powerful truth that "If anyone keeps My word he shall never
see death" was driven home by a "Verily,Verily" (Jn.8:51)
- When He wanted to tell of His pre-existence He told it with an emphatic
"Verily, Verily" (Jn. 8:58)
- The true "Door" for our entering unto salvation is presented with a "Verily,
Verily" (Jn.10:1-7).
- The Lord Jesus, stated a known truth when he said that for a grain
of wheat to produce fruit it must first die. His mian point in that
had reference
to fruit His own death would produce. That great truth He
presented with a "Verily,
Verily" (Jn. 12:24)
- Another special truth in regard to humility is headed up with a "Verily,
Verily" (Jn.13:16)
- And yet another needed truth in respect to the importance of receiving
the "whomever" that Jesus sends is presented with a "Verily, Verily" (Jn.13:20).
- The annonucement of His betrayal had a "Verily, Verily" before it (Jn.13:21).
- Peter's denial of His Master was predicted with a sad and sober "Verily,
Verily" (Jn.13:38)
- The "greater work" of spreading the gospel and saving souls was forwarded
by a "Verily, Verily" (Jn.14:12).
- The mixed reactions of His rejection, suffering and death were noted with
a "Verily, Verily" (Jn.16:20).
- The sincere requests of His apostles being honoured by their Master
were presented with a "Verily, Verily" (Jn.16:23-24).
- The sober prediction that Peter would be incompacitated in his older years
was stated with a "Verily, Verily" (Jn.21:18).
